Johor Bahru, June 18th, 2019 – IKEA Southeast Asia unveiled a preview of upcoming tenants for Toppen Shopping Centre at today’s Key Handover Ceremony. With close to 85% of its retail space leased out, Toppen is looking forward to welcoming even more brands to partner within its 1.1 million square feet, four-level centre.

Together with IKEA Tebrau, Toppen, with its rooftop community hub, The Topp, is also set to attract customers with a myriad of fresh retail, dining, e-sports and entertainment experiences – a complete ‘retailtainment’ offer for the people of Southern Malaysia.

Together with well-known favourites such as TGV Cinemas, Harvey Norman, Sports Direct, Burger King and Marrybrown, and local Johor outlets with fresh concepts like 7 Oaks, Toppen’s retail mix will offer Johoreans and tourists a complete retail experience with great meeting places and spaces for family and friends to hang out and enjoy their time together.

“We're committed to creating market relevant shopping experiences that fit our consumers' lifestyles. We do this by consistently identifying opportunities to improve the customer journey with new and in-demand tenants that reflect a well-curated mix of retail, dining and entertainment concepts,” said Arnoud Bakker, Head of Leasing, Southeast Asia of Ikano Centres, part of IKEA Southeast Asia.

He further explained, “Co-creation is something that we strongly believe in, not only for external relationships but for the mall space as well. It allows each tenant to work together and create a cohesive experience for the customers while remaining diverse in shopping selections.”

The Land of Opportunity
Toppen Shopping Centre is projected to attract 15 million visitors in the year 2020, not only from Johor and its neighbouring states but also nearby Singapore. The shopping centre development will bring thousands of business opportunities within the region, adding vibrancy to the economy. It is also set to create numerous career opportunities with an array of jobs for the surrounding Johor community.
Slated to open in November 2019, Toppen Shopping Centre is now close to 85% of its retail space being leased out.
